Though you wouldn't have thought it from the band's introduction to the world in the film Bio-Dome, Tenacious D grew into a group that labeled itself "the greatest band in the world," since no one else was bothering to do so.
And while the duo has been quiet for a few years after the bomb of its totally underappreciated feature film, The Pick of Destiny, it is getting ready to drop a new album on the world: Rize of the Fenix.
The album is now streaming at its website, and via Soundcloud.
Though the band initially performed as an acoustic duo, it now incorporates elements of everything from metal to Bonnie Tyler-eque synth jams. And as should be expected, Tenacious D is a major source of lyrical inspiration. Jack Black's ability to scat about all things scatological remains unparalleled.
