Words from prison are generally confined to phone calls through plexiglass and pleas for pen pals in classified sections. But Eve Ensler's work, Any One of Us: Words From Prison, provides a different perspective.

As part of V-Day, the global activism project that aims to end violence against women and girls, various organizations will stage Ensler's work and/or host a variety of other recognized V-day events, such as film screenings, Powerpoint presentations, workshops and performance pieces.

The Boise State Women's Center and Coalition Against the Abuse of Women will stage Any One of Us at the Boise State Special Events Center tonight and Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m.

The piece evolved from a decade-long writing group that Ensler was a part of at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women. It's a compilation of stories from women in prisons across the nation. According to the V-day website, "Together, these writings reveal the deep connection between women in prison and the violence that often brings them there."

Tickets are $8 at the door. Visit the Women's Center website for more info.
