Bikes + Beer = Love

If the thought of flipping through the channels and finding nothing but predictable, sappy rom-coms this time of year has you ready to chuck that damned chocolate-filled heart out the window or beat someone with a bouquet, there's a better way to channel your Valentine's Day frustrations: pedal them out.

Boise Bicycle Project is offering the perfect outlet with its annual Bikin' for Lovin' III on Sunday, Feb. 12. And what sets the tone for Valentine's Day better than a brisk winter bike ride, beer and party games?

The ride will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the BBP headquarters, 1027 Lusk St., and then head out on a two-wheeled cavalcade to Payette Brewing Company, 111 W. 33rd St., Garden City (if you don't feel like biking, just show up at the brewery around 7 p.m.). The brewery will offer not only delicious frosty beverages, but games, bike raffles, tandem bike rides and assorted merriment.

Admission is free, but those who don't mind ponying up a few bucks will help send BBP's lead mechanic, Andrew Little, to Barnette's Bicycle Institute. And you don't have to have a significant other to attend, either—single bikers are welcome to join the party. Besides, you never know who you'll meet when you mix bikes and beer—and that's coming from the folks who host the Bars and Stripes alley cat race ...
