Though Be Kind Rewind was less acclaimed than French director Michel Gondry's music videos for bands like Daft Punk and Foo Fighters, or his feature film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the bizarre comedy gave the world "sweding," the process of re-shooting feature films as no-budget shorts.
Be Kind Rewind included sweded versions of Ghostbusters, Driving Miss Daisy, King Kong and more.
Gondry recently released another sweded film: Taxi Driver. But he isn't the first. This version hit YouTube a few years ago. But even when Gondry is shooting low budget, he makes it just as compelling as his more ambitious and better-funded work.
That said, neither are as good as the Full Life (an assisted living program for adults with mental handicaps) version of RoboCop, which you will like for all the wrong reasons.
