Comedian Louis C.K. recently sidestepped the entertainment industry and independently released his new comedy special. The risk paid off, resulting in $1 million in sales after just 10 days.

The entire production for Louis CK: Live at the Beacon Theater, was paid for out of pocket by the comedian. He then made it as easy for consumers to acquire via a $5 download, with no processing fees, no email lists and no account registration required.

Claiming he’s never been in possession of that much money at one time, Louis C.K. announced on a broadcast of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, that he donated $280,000 of it to charitable organizations.

After putting another $500,000 of the money toward paying overhead and giving his staff hefty bonuses, Louis C.K. gestured to his midsection and said the rest of the $220,000 is going there, implying that he’s either going to eat the money, or use it to purchase a new stomach.
