What's cuter than a country Christmas? Green, red and white tablecloths cover rustic wooden tables; a giant pine tree sits next to an open fireplace, covered with paper chains and strings of popcorn; a blanket of snow covers the open plain outside a cabin window. It's the stuff of paintings and holiday cards.
Starlight Mountain Theatre wants to bring you a slice of country this holiday season. But A Honky Tonk Christmas Angel isn't all picturesque country imagery—it's the story of a down-on-her-luck waitress with a deadbeat husband who's about to hit rock bottom. Just as this food purveyor is about to see all her dreams come true, some mysterious force shatters it all. While this might seem like a downer plot for a play with such a sugary-sweet name, things do turn around. A crew of country crooners and Santa head to Nashville, and a Christmas miracle ensues.
You can catch all the singing/dancing action tonight or Friday, Dec. 23, at 8 p.m. at the Kuna Performing Arts Center. If you're feeling like dinner and a show, Starlight and Sizzler have you covered. Enjoy a down-home meal of tri-tip roast, mashed potatoes and dessert before the show at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $8-$16, or $15 for dinner with a $2 show discount.
