2011 was a big year for comedy in Boise. It started out bleak, save for a few scattered one-off performances at whatever bars couldn't find bands willing to play.
But by spring, things had changed. Two consistent open mics started to serve as an anchor. Within a few months, those events were jam-packed with audience members and new comedians, all eager to share a few yuks with one another.
And they managed all that without a comedy club.
But come 2012, that will all change because, as Boise Weekly recently reported, Liquid will be converting itself into a comedy club four nights a week with national touring headliners.
Tonight, you can get the first taste of what that will be like with Liquid's debut open mic event, which will ultimately serve as a way for local comedians to earn opening slots for touring headliners.
Sign-ups for the open mic start at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 8 p.m. It is FREE.
