Procrastinators, you're being warned: There are only two weeks left to get in your entries for both the Fiction 101 and Bad Cartoon contests.

That's right, entries for Bad Cartoon are due at BWHQ no later than noon on Wednesday, Nov. 16, and entries for Fiction 101 must be in our hot little hands by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

There are a few changes to the Bad Cartoon Contest this year, namely that there is a $10-per-entry fee. No, we're not saving up to buy a private island—all money from the entry fees will be used to award cash prizes to the winners. Also, the winning cartoon will not run for the full year, but it will be featured (along with other faves) in the Wednesday, Nov. 30, edition of Boise Weekly.

All entries must have the illustrator's full name and contact information on the BACK of each entry (including phone number). Entries will not be returned unless they are accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

The rules for Fiction 101 are much the same as last year: All entries must be exactly 101 words long—not including the title—as counted by Microsoft Word. All works of fiction are welcome with one exception: no poetry, please.

This contest also has a $10-per-entry fee that will be used to award cash prizes to the top winners. All entries must include the author's full name, address and phone number on the BACK of each entry. The winners' stories will be published in the Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, edition of Boise Weekly.

Here's another date to mark on your calendars: Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012. Following last year's successful (and way fun) reading of the winning stories by their authors, we're doing the event all over again, just bigger and better.

The crew at Rediscovered Bookshop will join the BW miscreants to host Conversations with Fiction 101 Winners on First Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012. The winning authors will not only share their stories, but take questions from the public about their inspiration, writing process, twisted minds, etc. Finalists will be notified in December to keep the date clear, but the winners won't be revealed until they show up in print.

Entries for both Fiction 101 and Bad Cartoon can be dropped off in person at BWHQ (523 Broad St.) or mailed to Boise Weekly, 523 Broad St., Boise, ID, 83702. All entries must include the $10-per-entry fee, but please don't send cash through the mail.

If you have any questions, please contact BW Office Manager Shea Sutton at 208-344-2055.
