Evil Dead Remake Confirmed by Bruce Campbell Via Twitter

Big news for local horror fans. Not only has the casting process begun locally for the Daisy's Madhouse production of Evil Dead: The Musical, horror movie blog Bloody Disgusting is reporting that casting has begun for an authorized remake of the original film.

Bloody Disgusting is being told exclusively that Sam Raimi is gearing up to produce a quasi-remake of The Evil Dead, his breakthrough horror film from 1981 that starred Bruce Campbell as Ash, a modern day warrior who fends of resurrected Deadites.

As Dread Central reported yesterday, it sounds as if casting is already taking place in Detroit, Mich., for a "low budget" shoot before Raimi steps behind the camera for Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Star Bruce Campbell—not this Bruce Campbell, "the" Bruce Campbell—gave what most considered a confirmation via Twitter when he responded to a follower:
"@TheMike31 Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell."

But if that wasn't clear enough, he later posted again:
"My tweet was about remaking Evil Dead - not Evil Dead 4."

We wondered if it will be any good. Campbell seems to think so.
"@FingerGuns99 You will be converted within the first minute of the new film," Campbell tweeted.

No word yet on a potential release date for the film.
