Just in case we needed another reason to jump on our bikes this summer, how about a fully supported road ride through the mountains for a good cause?

During the Bike MS: Road Sweat and Gears, riders bike between 40 and 135 miles in and around McCall in an effort to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research through the National MS Society Utah-Southern Idaho Chapter. The annual ride will be on Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24, and organizers are planning for 250 participants.

There will be a mixture of routes on both days, offering options for riders of various skill/fitness levels. Regardless of how long the ride is, those who participate won't have to do much more than pedal their little legs off: Organizers are providing a cavalcade of rest stops, support vehicles and bike mechanics, and meals are included.

Registration is only $35, but each rider must meet the minimum fundraising goal of $250. Pre-registration can be done at bikemsidaho.org, or on the day of the rides, starting at 7 a.m. each day at Alpine Village, 600 N. Third St., McCall. For more info, call 1-800-344-4867.
