Need Something To Do Today?

Remember anxiously waiting to see if your secret crush had somehow magically read your mind and sent you that heart-shaped balloon or lollipop on Valentine’s Day? And remember talking really loudly to your girlfriends in the lunch line about that evening’s plans to meet at the skating rink? And that giddy feeling when you saw your crush walk through the door, carrying his black skates with the neon orange wheels? And skating 'til the late late hour of 10 p.m. and then lingering as long as possible before your mom picked you up?

Oh come on. We were all 14 once. Don’t deny your innermost desire to relive those innocent times. Embrace it. Especially now that you are old enough to stay out as long as you like, drive yourself to the skating rink and have stumbled upon the realization that having a drink or two makes skating that much more entertaining, as well as a whole lot easier to ask your would-be Valentine to go with you. That’s right. It’s time to seize the moment.

The Rollerdrome in Nampa is hosting an all-night skate in honor of Valentine’s Day beginning at 7 p.m. Cost is $25, or $40 per couple, and includes games, prizes and a DJ spinning your favorite skating tunes. Maybe you can request “Shake Your Love” by Debbie Gibson or Heart’s “Alone” for couples' skate.
