It's never too early to start thinking about dusting off that old two-wheeled, dirt-slingin', single-track swillin' mountain pony. Especially since the 2011 race season is just around the corner, and this season is a very special one for Idaho.
USA Cycling—the national governing body for mountain, road, track, BMX and cyclocross racing—recently announced that the 2011 mountain bike cross-country national championships will be held in Sun Valley from July 14-17. Sun Valley will also host the 2012 event. Some of the best cardio athletes in the United States will test their grit on what is likely to be one of the most epic race courses on this year's circuit.
According to USAC, the decision was made to separate the cross-country championship venue from the gravity sports venue in Beech Mountain, N.C., to ensure that the best possible course conditions and terrain were selected. Breakaway Promotions out of Oregon will be organizing the event.
