Like it or not, we live in a consumerist culture. We purchase things both to survive and for recreation. But since we do it so often for recreation, that often makes it harder to purchase things to survive which cuts into our rec time. It's a vicious cycle.
And caught in the middle of all that, is art.
Many believe art should stand alone, outside business and consumerism. Yet art is bought and sold recreationally, just like scuba gear or time-saving gadgets. Except for one critical difference: art is effin' pricey. It costs way more than a snorkel. Even a really nice snorkel.
But coming up soon, you'll have a chance to get some wicked sweet art at flexible prices with BW's annual Cover Auction on Wednesday, Nov. 17. All the original pieces used over the last year for our covers will go on sale at prices determined by reason and customer interest. But if you want to get the best possible prices, you gotta go in with a plan.
So tonight, why not check out the goods ahead of time?
All the covers up for auction will be on display at the Idaho State Historical Museum right up until the auction, and tonight is the opening reception for the exhibit.
It gets going round 5 p.m. and doesn't cost a thing.
