The Truth About Fiction 101

Attention all wordsmiths: It's time to show how crafty and how concise you can be.

Our annual Fiction 101 contest is right around the corner, and entries are now being accepted. It's your chance for fame and fortune ... or at least some respectable cash prizes and the opportunity to have your work published.

As the name implies, all entries must be fiction (no poetry) and must be exactly 101 words long as counted by Microsoft Word (not including the title). No handwritten entries will be accepted. You can enter as many stories as you like, but each entry must come accompanied by a $10 entry fee. Your full name, address and phone number must be written on the back of each entry. Sorry, but BW staff members and freelancers are not eligible to enter.

Entries will be judged by an illustrious panel, and winning stories will be published in the Jan. 5, 2011 edition of Boise Weekly.

Here's the really, really important part: All entries must be in our hot little hands no later than Wednesday, Nov. 17. Here is that information again: No later than Wednesday, Nov. 17.

You can drop entries off in person to BWHQ at 523 Broad St. during regular business hours (9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday) or you can mail them to us at 523 Broad St., Boise, ID 83702. Please don't send cash in the mail. Checks should be made out to Boise Weekly.
