Tomatoes: A Girl's Best Friend

If I could only eat one thing the rest of my life, but I got to choose what food that would be, it would be tomatoes without a doubt.

But not the mealy, sour tomatoes of restaurant kitchens whose staff lacks proper food rotation skills. Nor the pale, tasteless tomato impostors grocery stores sell as "vine ripened."

Nope, I want the fresh-outta-the-garden, juicy, deep-hued tomatoes of late summer.

This weekend's tomato tasting at the Saturday Market in Downtown Boise is a food dream come true. On this morning's edition of "Market and Garden Report" on KBSX Boise State Public Radio, Guy Hand reported on tomorrow's tasting, featuring tomatoes from a half-dozen market farmers.
