Need Something to do Friday?

by

Yeah sure, Hyde Park Street Fair starts today. And it's Oktoberfest and all that. But you're not into those sorts of things. You're a sensitive intellectual and need an outing that involves less shouting and fried meats, something tasteful and understated, perhaps even the sort of happening that most people think is "boring" but you and you alone have the intellectual capacity to recognize as genius.

Well you, my friend, sound totally insufferable like a poetry fan. And tonight, rather than rubbing shoulders with the revelers tearing this city a new one, slamming Jager-bombs or whatever else they're drinking these days, you might want to swing by Rediscovered Bookstore for the Boise State English Majors Association Poetry Reading.

Up-and-coming undergrads, cunning linguists and future baristas alike will be laying their souls bare for your listening pleasure. Snaps and finger-cymbals are optional.

The reading gets going at 7 p.m. and is free, free, free like the eagle that soars through the sky, searching, searching, searching for a meal with eyes like radar and talons that kill like missiles.

Pleasant pontificating.
