Barefoot Bandit Caught Bare-handed

While I normally don't pay much attention to three-inch columns of newsprint without big headlines, an item in the Wall Street Journal caught my eye. A 19-year-old kid named Colton Harris-Moore was arrested in the Bahamas this weekend and charged with a laundry list of crimes, including multiple counts of theft and possession of illegal weapons.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't bat an eye. I'd just think to myself, "Kids these days." However, back in February, I read a fantastic article about this kid, dubbed the "Barefoot Bandit," in Outside Magazine. The in-depth article by Bob Friel is worth reading in order to get a better idea of why the arrest is significant and why I predict there will be a movie made about Harris-Moore. He already has a fan club. Maybe Zac Efron's next role? High School Musical is probably getting to be a little too "high school" anyway.
