I did not have plans to go with my friends to the concert last night at The Hollywood Bowl. I knew they had plans to go see Goldfrapp at their debut performance at Hollywood's legendary Bowl. I really like Goldfrapp. Video above is "Alive" from the newest album in case you are not familiar. I just had planned to have a mellow evening after traveling and being well rested for a full day at Disneyland the following day. There was one extra ticket and someone casually mentioned that the opening band was Orquestra Buena Vista Social Club featuring Omara Portuondo. I was speechless.
My tune pretty quickly changed and I got out the pool and went to shower. I was not going to miss an opportunity to see Buena Vista Social Club. I am glad that I did not. The combination of these two amazing acts brought together an eclectic cross section of people who may not normally hang out together. But everyone there left feeling like maybe they should.
Disneyland was fun but I would be lying if I said that I was well rested and prepared for a twelve hour day at "the happiest place on earth". But I would not change a thing and I am so glad that my friends had an extra ticket to the show last night.
