Need Something to Do Monday?

Isn't it supposed to be summer? You know, the season with the swimming and the barbecues and the sun? Instead, what do we have? Drizzle, Chinese take-out and tornados. The sky is grey, the volleyball courts are empty and my poor kayak keeps looking at me all sad-like, as if it's in the closet as some sort of punishment.

It's enough to make me want to sing the blues.

"Thick rains are a-falling, got me stuck indoors.
Said heavy rains are a-falling, got me stuck indoors.
Now I'm startin' to wonde-e-e-r, if we ain't gonna see the suuuun no more."

Well ... it's not Stevie Ray, and it certainly ain't Son House, but it's not bad. And it'd be a whole lot better if there were a band behind it. Without a band, the blues turn from mournful to sad.

Well, lucky for me, and anyone else who wants some musical therapy, Jo's Sunshine Lounge (ha!) has just the thing: The Boise Blues Society jam session, where they provide the drums, the amps and the stage, and you pitch in the heartache.

The session kicks off around 8 p.m. and is open to anyone who wants to wail. See you there kids. I'll be the one singing ...

"Thick rains are a-falling, got me stuck indoors.
Said heavy rains are a-falling, got me stuck indoors.
Now I'm startin' to wonde-e-e-r, if we ain't gonna see the suuuun no more."
