Smurfing Smurfed About The New Smurf Movie

Holy Smurf! Pictures of Hank Azaria playing Gargamel in the CGI/live action The Smurfs movie recently hit the webs, and I gotta say, I’m pretty freakin’ psyched.

The cast of eccentrics voicing the little blue ’80s cartoon commies just keeps growing. So far, they’ve got Dr. Doogie Howser (Neil Patrick Harris), Alan Cumming, Anton Yelchin, Fred Armisen and now Project Runway’s Tim Gunn. But the icing on this Smurfy cake? Katy Perry will be voicing the Smurfs’ sole female character, Smurfette.

And while I’m dying to make a “how sad that there won't be any girls around for Smurfette to kiss and like it” joke, Stephen Colbert beat me to the gay Smurf punch when he first spoke about the movie on the Colbert Report.

“A bunch of blue shirtless men surrounded by mushrooms with a blonde girl that nobody touches? That’s not a show, that’s a gay pride parade.”
