This came in too late to make print, but as a dog-lover, I wanted to let everyone know about it.
From the press release...
Northwest Animal Companions is holding a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, April 17 to educate the public about its ambitious plan to build Almost Home, a no-kill companion animal sanctuary to be located on 200 acres of donated land in the foothills above Bogus Basin Road in Boise.
The meeting will be held at the NAC Center, home to Re-Style Department Thrift Store and the Corridor at Glenwood at 3 pm. The NAC Center is located at the corner of Chinden and Glenwood Streets in Garden City. The organization is interested in creating a dialogue with neighbors of the property and other citizens in the early planning stages of the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2010.
Too many animals end up euthanized when homes aren't found for them immediately, especially black dogs, and no kill shelters are a great way of doing something about it.
Sales at the Re-Style Department Thrift Store benefit NAC, who in addition to funding the future shelter, are offering a $2500 reward "for information leading to the capture and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the torture and death of Rugger, a three year old Jack Russell Terrier stolen from his owners on March 6 and found with broken bones and other signs of torture three weeks later in the Snake River."
