Though the political landscape has altered greatly since Flobots last brought their unique brand of socially conscious hip-hop to Boise, the Denver sextet hasn’t gotten soft. Since their show at the Knitting Factory in July 2008, they have toured extensively, appeared on numerous late-night TV shows and even opened the Flobots.org Community Center in Denver, which helps with everything from school arts programs to voter registration.
Flobots recently released their new album, Survival Story, and have also incited fans on their Web site to rise to a new challenge:
“Navigating the coming years will require new tools. It will require narratives that cause us to reexamine our priorities, redefine wealth, and re-inspire ourselves. It will require that we come together in the face of death and write the story of our own survival.”
Flobots will return to Boise on Tuesday, May 11 at the Knitting Factory, and tickets go on sale Friday, March 26 at 10 a.m.
