A Morning at the Loxbury

I'm chewing on a super-sized two-egg, bacon, cheddar and tomato everything bagel sandwich ($3.50) from Loxbury this fine Friday morning. It's a two-handed breakfast for sure and it makes me wonder if I would have even been able to pick up this morning's special: two eggs, Swiss cheese, onions and steak. Yeah, steak on a bagel.

Loxbury opened Monday in the Ram Plaza Shopping Center at the corner of Broadway Ave. and Park Blvd. serving bagels, soups and sandwiches. My recommendation: stop in the first time and a get your sea legs about you then call ahead before subsequent visits and they'll have it ready for you. In addition to the bagel selection (bagels are trucked in from Twin Falls) is a variety of sandwich bread. A deli case has a selection of meat and cheese, which are sliced on the spot and Dawson Taylor is the brew of choice.

It's only day five of business, and things are still getting off the ground—a hand-written menu taped to deli case glass was being replaced by a large marker board this morning. Lunchless? The special today is chicken salad on marbled rye with lettuce and tomato for $4.75.
