Nuts In, Luke's Out

Had Cool Hand Luke's downtown Boise location consulted Food News before opening up a two-story steakhouse on the corner of Idaho and Capitol Blvd., maybe we could have headed off disaster. Too late now. The Boise location closed up shop but, according to a recorded message on the location's voice mail, the Eagle location is still up and running. If you have gift certificates or were just big fans of the joint, head to Eagle. Our take? After the departures of Starbucks, Manhattan Grill, The Loft and now Cool Hand Luke's, the building needs a good sage smudge.

Food News was trolling City Peanut Shop's Twitter feed earlier today. The Bannock Street store isn't open quite yet, but rest assured if you follow the nut purveyor in the Twitterverse, you'll be among the first to know when the doors swing open for the first time.

Speaking of nuts, Stubs Sports Pub on Chinden is no longer. In its stead is Nut House Sports Bar and Grill. This may not be new news to anyone except Food News, since its been a spell since we made it out that way. The full menu includes all the requisite sports bar apps (quasi Mexican options like nachos and quesadillas, and all the fried stuff like tots, o-rings, chicken strips...), pizza, burgers, hot and cold sandwiches and a small selection of salads incase a calorie conscious sports fan wanders in to drool at one of the 14 TVS, which by the way, will show every game in every league ever aired.
