Fanfarlo Finds Another Fan

Streaming Woxy.com earlier today, I heard the song “The Walls Are Coming Down” from the London-based five-piece Fanfarlo. Full of horns, thumping drums, twinkling xylophone, plucky violin and gorgeous harmonies, the song stopped my heart for a quick second. The band reminds me of a more poppy version of Beirut, with a dash of Arcade Fire and a sprinkle of Shearwater’s vocal theatrics thrown in.

After visiting Fanfarlo’s Myspace page, I saw a black and white video of the band covering one of my favorite Bonnie “Prince” Billy songs “A Minor Place” off of the album I See a Darkness. Damn, this band officially has too much awesomeness going on for me to handle.

Though they just returned from a U.S. tour that brought them relatively close to Boise (Chop Suey in Seattle), I’m crossing my fingers that they’ll tack us onto their tour the next time they cross the pond.
