The Boise Bicycle Project is nothing if not busy. For a volunteer-driven nonprofit, the group’s schedule is a little staggering.
Latest to make its way onto the calendar is a build-a-bike program for children in 2nd through 5th grades. Eight kids per session will learn how to build their own bike from the ground up with the help of volunteers. At the end of the project, they can take their new bikes home with them.
The first round of the program starts on Thursday, Aug. 6, with class from 6-7:30 p.m. for four consecutive Thursdays at the BBP’s new home. Four spots in the class are set aside for sponsored kids, and the remaining four cost $80 per child.
There were still two openings for paying participants in the August class, and sign-ups are already open for the September session. Volunteers are also needed for both classes.
