"I wanna thank you all for the food that you made us, but it cant hold a candle to mama's fried potatoes,” howls Reverend Peyton to the thrash of brother Jayme Peyton’s drums and the furious scrape of wife Breezy Peyton’s washboard. All members of the blues/country/punk act Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, these three rural Indiana-ites have good reason to miss mama’s cooking—they’ve played more than 250 shows in the last year.
In addition to touring with Celtic-punk rockers Flogging Molly, The Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band made their way to Boise twice last year. One of those shows was at Alive After Five, where the band stomped their way into the hearts of Boise's bluegrass-loving masses with a stage-rattling, high energy performance.
Catch the Rev., his bro and his ol’ lady play tunes off their two full length releases Big Damn Nation and The Whole Fam Damnily at 6 p.m. tonight at the Record Exchange. And if that isn’t enough to wet your whistle, head to the Neurolux later this evening for an encore performance.
