The other day I was scanning The Dinner Files when I found the most amazing thing: you can pop wild rice just like popcorn. After picking up some all black wild rice from WinCo, I figured I'd give it a whirl.
It only takes a tablespoon or so of oil and and a couple minutes of constant stove top agitation. The pops aren't nearly as loud as popcorn and sound more like the sputter of rain drops on concrete. Man, is it delicious. My favorite new snack/salad topping. Here's what I came up with:
