If you were planning on participating in the annual Barber to Boise fun run this year, well, you suddenly have an open weekend.
The YMCA announced today that after 31 years it is canceling the race.
We understand that this will be a disappointment for everyone who has participated in this great fall tradition, but cancelling Barber to Boise will allow the YMCA to improve services and extend our mission through our many other programs and fun runs, said Dave Duro, chief operations officer in a written statement.
Discontinuing Barber to Boise was a very difficult decision. We hope that those who have participated in the past will continue to be involved in YMCA running events and will help us continue to improve our other races.
The YMCA is still planning to hold several of its other races, including the Kids Classic in October and the Christmas Run in December.
