Bungalow Changes Hands

Word leaked out this afternoon that local restaurateur Erik McLaughlin is stepping out of Bungalow.

Last April the Hyde Park eatery was dubbed Bungalow after McLaughlin took on executive chef Fred Moffitt as a partner. The two closed Richard's of Hyde Park and Taste to remodel the space into a single concept and revamped the menu to better reflect the neighborhood feel of the North End.

"I'll be keeping 8th Street Wine Co." McLaughlin told BW. "But I'll be selling my ownership interest in the Bungalow."

Moffitt will continue on as part owner and executive chef while new owners Larry and Carol Broadwater take over McLaughlin's holdings.

McLaughlin says he expects things to stay pretty much status quo at the restaurant, but expects that its new owners will be elbow deep in the day-to-day business. "Fred is staying on and these new folks are going to be here all the time. They're gonna be able to give it more time and attention than I've been able to with my efforts split three different ways."
