Don't get too excited just yet, it's just the tubing hill.
Bogus Basin officials announced earlier today that the ski area's tubing hill will open this weekend, along with a few kilometers at the Nordic Center.
A full ski season though is still quite a few inches away
The GoldRush Tubing Hill will offer three two-hour sessions on Saturday and Sunday, at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. Tickets cost $9 per person and can be purchased in advance at BogusBasin.org
The resort will also open 3 kilometers of Nordic trails this weekend as well. The lodge will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, and cross country skiers can purchase discounted trail passes for $3.
The J.R. Simplot Lodge and Pioneer Lodge will open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and offer a limited menu for the weekend.
For those thinking about poaching some powder before the main hill opens, think again. The area's minimum base is being closely guarded, and only a handful of pre-scheduled lessons will be allowed on the slopes. Everyone else is asked to stay off the snow.
