Mayor Focuses on Smart Growth, Graftiti

It’s all about investing in Boise’s future—financially that is—for Mayor Dave Bieter. The mayor touted the highlights of the capital city and stressed the need for prudent future investment in his annual State of the City address this morning.

For the second year in a row, Bieter did away with notes and presented a well-honed speech, complete with Boise-based jazz musician Curtis Stigers as an opening act. He focused on the need for continued growth within the city, a valley-wide rail transit system, the elimination of graffiti and announced plans for a new 700,000-square-foot distribution center to be built by WinCo Foods near Micron in southeast Boise.

He earned a standing ovation from the crowd at the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce event, but check out the speech for yourself.

Updates to come.
