While state officials keep reminding us that theres no official job opening since Sen. Larry Craig hasnt officially resigned, that hasnt stopped a plethora of Idahoans from applying for the position.
Some of those most recently added to the list
are: Charles Cline of Lenore, Brian Hefner of Nampa, Kent Marmon of Caldwell, Charles Pottenger of Lewiston and Steven Thompson of Heyburn.
Of course this list comes with the following disclaimer from Gov. C.L. Butch Otters office:
The list does not include people whose names were submitted by others but who themselves have not indicated they are seeking the appointment. It also does not include the few individuals from outside Idaho who indicated they would be willing to move here if appointed. Finally, it does not include those people who indicated privately to the Governor that they would accept an appointment but expressed a desire for their names not to be disclosed. This is neither a short list nor an exhaustive list of those Governor Otter may consider if a vacancy occurs.
After announcing his intent to resign earlier this month, Craig announced that he would reconsider his resignation if he is allowed to withdraw his guilty plea on charges of disorderly conduct in Minnesota. Craig will have a hearing on the matter on Sept. 26.
Otter has not set a timeline as to when he would select a replacement should Craig step down.
