After winnowing down a long list of qualified applicants, the Idaho Commission on the Arts (ICA) has chosen Michael Faison as their new executive director. According to a press release, commission chair Michael Hofflund is very pleased with their choice. "Everyone is looking forward to working with Michael," said Hofflund. "After a nationwide search, he comes to us with outstanding recommendations, an enviable reputation, and
widespread experience. We are confident, in turn, that his presence will augment the Commission's own evolving reputation around the state, as
well as among our partners at the federal level and among other state arts agencies."
Faison will take over the helm on June 29 and is, himself, pleased with the decision. "It is a privilege to lead an agency that does so much to
improve the quality of people's lives," he said. Of his first trip to Boise in 2005, he said. "I was
impressed by the quality of the arts events, and I also enjoyed the friendly character of the people-they made me feel welcome. My positive
impressions of Idaho were sealed when I explored the surrounding countryside by motorcycle, where I found more friendly people and
stunning scenery," he said.
