Time is running out if you have designs on being one of the first five trustees of the new College of Western Idaho.

The Idaho State Board of Education set a June 7 deadline for all applications for the available posts, which will guide the creation of the new community college in the Treasure Valley.

“We’re looking for people who can demonstrate a genuine interest and commitment to community and education,” said Board President Milford Terrell in a prepared statement. “This is an exciting time in our state’s history. To be involved with such a grand venture, it will take a significant amount of person’s time and energy, so we want to make sure we have the best qualified and committed people to fill this board.”

Those appointed to the trustee positions will serve until the 2008 general election, at which point he or she can choose to run for election.

Appointments will be made for staggering terms, so that not all board seats are up for election at the same time.

Eligible applicants must be full time residents of either Ada or Canyon county.

Anyone interested must submit a resume and cover letter to the Board of Education by 5 p.m. on June 7. Applications can be sent to the attention of CWI Trustee; Idaho State Board of Education, 650 W. State St., P.O. Box 83720, Boise, ID 83720

Electronic applications will also be accepted on the Board’s Web site. Click on “College of Western Idaho” and follow the instructions.
