Romney Picks Up Idaho GOP

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, has made good on his two Idaho trips.

Romney's campaign sent out word that he's netted support from many of Idaho's most prominent GOP leaders, including Sen. Larry Craig and Lt. Gov. Jim Risch.

"I am excited to join with these leaders from across the state of Idaho to talk about the need to bring real change to Washington," said Romney in a prepared statement. "Idaho will be an important state in our campaign to end the status quo and prepare our nation to face a new generation of challenges."

Those who pay attention to the electoral college map might dispute Idaho's importance in the overall scheme of things, but it's interesting to see how quickly, and how easily, Romney appears to have sealed up these names.

The name he hasn't got? Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter. Although Otter has been present at some Romney events here, he's yet to pick a horse, he said. The last time someone asked him publicly about it, he mentioned his interest in GOP candidate Tommy Thompson, the former secretary of human services.
