Jefferson County Sheriff Blair Olsen
The news keeps getting worse for Jefferson County Sheriff Blair Olsen.
In January, Olsen was indicted
on multiple counts of misuse of public funds, and now KIDK-TV reports
that Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden is looking to lodge more charges against the eastern Idaho sheriff. In particular, a new motion has been filed, accusing Olsen of threatening witnesses and potential witnesses, and attempting to extort "a favorable resolution" in his criminal trial.
But Olsen's attorneys are firing back, saying a Jefferson county employee was "inappropriately touched by an investigator." The state claims that those charges were filed "to work out a deal," according to KIDK-TV.
Olsen's trial is set to begin Monday, May 11.
