A Boise man is behind bars, charged with two felonies in connection with a Dec. 21, 2014 fatal hit and run.

Boise Police say a lengthy investigation led them to the man believed to be the driver of a pickup that struck and killed 66-year-old John Perkins of Boise as he was crossing Orchard Street in the early morning hours of Dec. 21. The Ada County Coroner said Perkins died of blunt force trauma following the collision.

Police said evidence indicates that the pickup was traveling with a green light and the right-of-way, but the driver failed to stop as required by law. Officers said they found evidence that the driver later removed equipment from the pickup in an effort to conceal evidence. Police said citizen tips to Crime Stoppers were especially valuable to their investigation.

43-year-old Jeffrey Graef of Boise was booked into the Ada County Jail on felony charges of leaving the scene of an injury accident and destruction of evidence.
