A man is behind bars, charged with a felony, after Boise police say he took packages from Boise doorsteps.

On Jan. 22, Boise police responded to a report of suspicious activity on the 6500 block of West Poplar Street January 22nd. That's where witnesses told police  they saw the suspect remove one item from a doorstep and three more packages from another doorstep right after a delivery truck had dropped the items off.

Police say they quickly located the man based on a description and in short order, booked him into the Ada County Jail.

Robert Smotherman, 27, of Boise, was charged with a felony count of grand theft and another felony count of parole violation.
