Your Health Idaho, the Gem State's health insurance exchange, announced Tuesday morning that in the first two months of its current enrollment, they processed 83,383 customers, including new applicants and consumers renewing their coverage. Current open enrollment ends Sunday, Feb. 15.
YHI Officials said the highest percentage of Idahoans, approximately 25 percent, signed up for the coverage using the exchange are Ada County residents. The next highest levels of participation came from Canyon and Bonneville counties. Fifty-five percent of all statewide consumers using the exchange in the first two months of the current enrollment period were female. And the age ranges break-out as follows: 13.2 percent were under the age of 18; 10.3 percent were ages 18 to 25; 17.2 percent were ages 26 to 34; 16.3 percent were ages 35 to 44; 17.7 percent were ages 45 to 54; 25.1 percent were between the ages of 55 and 64; and only three-tenths of one percent were 65 or older.
The majority of consumers opted for the silver level of coverage (72.1 percent), followed by bronze (17.5 percent), gold (7.8 percent), and platinum (2 percent).
