West Boise Standoff, Involving Armored Car, Ends With Suspect in Custody

Law enforcement, using a so-called Bearcat - a lighter duty armored vehicle - gave the all-clear Monday afternoon after a standoff in West Boise.

The Boise Police Special Operations Unit moved into the 6700 block of Newman Street near Northview and Cole Road late Monday morning after Ada County dispatchers received a call of a knife fight involving a man wanted in connection with a violent crime. Police said they contained the incident to the residence and the SWAT team was on  hand as an extra precaution. The suspect refused to come out of the house, and the standoff lasted a few  hours.

By 2 p.m., Boise Police tweeted out the incident had resolved peacefully and that the suspect was in police custody for questioning.
