Two Boise men are behind bars, each charged with DUI, following separate weekend busts.
A citizen call summoned Boise Police to the intersection of South Owyhee and West Rose streets in the late night hours of Dec. 6. That's where they found a van with the engine running with the driver asleep at the wheel. The driver failed several field sobriety tests and police said they also discovered pills on the suspect's person that he didn't have a prescription for. Additionally, investigators found drug paraphernalia and a substance which test positive for marijuana.
25-year-old Sandon Sims of Boise was booked into the Ada County Jail for DUI, intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
That same evening, Boise Police were called to a bar on the 1500 block of West Grove Street. That's where witnesses told a man had pulled a knife a knife on another man and drove off. Police said they caught up with the suspect in a traffic stop and the suspect failed sobriety tests, blowing blood alcohol levels of .200 and .191.The suspect, additionally, had a previous DUI conviction.
27-year-old Juan Esquivel of Boise was charged with a felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and DUI.
