With more Idaho families facing the higher cost of higher education, the Idaho State Board of Education has opened the gates for Idaho students to apply for the state's Opportunity Scholarships. The scholarships—awarded to high school seniors or undergraduate students with GPAs of at least 3.0 and who demonstrate financial need—are renewable for up to four years and are earmarked for students who attend Idaho colleges and universities.
But the window of opportunity is brief. You must have your application in by March 1, 2015.
Other available opportunities are the GEAR UP Idaho Scholarship for students who participated in the early intervention component (7th through 10th grade) of the GEAR UP program (that deadline is Feb. 15, 2015); and the Governor's Cup Scholarship, granting $3,000 awards to approximately 25 high school seniors (that deadline is also Feb. 15, 2015).
