Lewiston Police say they've identified the driver responsible for a hit-and-run accident that left a woman lying in the street in critical condition.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day
in the 1500 block of Main Street in Lewiston. That's where one vehicle had stopped to allow 39-year-old Mikerra Lane to cross the street, but another vehicle didn't stop and struck the woman. According to a witness, the driver of the vehicle got out of the car, looked at the woman lying on the ground and then got back in the vehicle and left the scene.
Lane was rushed to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.
And on Saturday, Lewiston Police confirmed that they discovered a car they believed was involved in the accident. But criminal charges were still pending early this morning. And until charges are filed, police told the Lewiston Tribune
that they won't release the identity of the suspect.
