Police Blotter: Arson, Unlawful Entry and a Third DUI Offense

by

A Boise man was arrested, charged with felony arson, after Boise Police and Fire investigators determined that the suspect had allegedly set fire to his own house.

Law enforcement was summoned to a home in the area of Kootenai Street and Vista Avenue Nov. 22. An acquaintance had told police that she was concerned about the safety of a man at the residence. When they arrived at the residence, Boise Police said they discovered evidence that someone had attempted to set fire to carpet in the basement of the home. Boise Fire was also summoned to help investigate.

Approximately two hours later, Boise Police returned to the neighborhood when someone called to report a possible intruder. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered the same suspect from before, but inside a neighbor's home without permission. The neighbors said they didn't even know the suspect.

Ashton Reno, 29, of Boise was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with unlawful entry and arson.

Also on Monday's police blotter was an early morning felony DUI arrest. Boise Police said they received a call of a woman sleeping behind the wheel in a car parked on the 200 block of Allumbaugh Street, just before 5 a.m. Monday morning. When police arrived they said the suspect was asleep, but the car was running and the transmission was in drive. The suspect failed several field sobriety tests and a check of records indicated that Monday morning's arrest was the suspect's third DUI offense in the last 10 years.

Jacqueline Chunghee, 29, of Boise was charged with felony DUI.
