The Ada County Sheriff's Office is trying to piece together details of an incident that involved alleged road rage and a shooting.
Law enforcement said the event began with a dispute between two motorists that continued until the two vehicles pulled into the parking lot of a Walgreens at Five Mile and Lake Hazel roads. Witnesses said the confrontation became physical when the two drivers emerged from the vehicles. That's when one of the motorists was shot once in the leg.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital and the second motorist was detained for questioning. According to witnesses, the shooter was claiming self-defense.
Detectives were continuing to sort through evidence in the shooting, but a spokeswoman said charges were not expected to be filed overnight.
