A Ketchum man was jailed Thursday after crashing his vehicle into a school playground.
This morning's Idaho Mountain Express
reports that 27-year-old Tyler Jackson was charged with DUI and possession of a controlled substance (mushrooms) after his vehicle crashed into the playground at Hemingway Elementary School in Ketchum. The accident occurred at 2 a.m., long before any children were near the scene. But law enforcement said the crash wrecked a newly constructed playground fence and some playground equipment. Jackson reportedly told police that he fell asleep at the wheel.
Jackson had already been convicted of a previous DUI in January of this year and was sentenced to five days behind bars, according to the Mountain Express
. He was also convicted of a misdemeanor DUI in 2005, but was given a withheld judgment and ordered to pay fines and fees of $405.
