The company that manages the Ford Idaho Center for the city of Nampa says it intends to fight to keep the contract, but city officials are moving toward the possibility of opening the management contract for bid.
This morning's Idaho Press-Tribune reports
that the Nampa Council voted 4-2 Nov. 3 to move forward with a request-for-proposal process. That process would come in the shadow of the Idaho Center losing its manager. Craig Baltzer resigned from the post in October to take another job, and SMG is in the process of hiring his replacement.
"It doesn't hurt to go out and find out who's in the marketplace," said Councilman Paul Raymond, according to the Press-Tribune
. "We may be coming right back to SMG, but we ought to at least go out and start exploring the marketplace and who else is out there."
City officials said they're prepared to draft a proposal to accept bids and a decision could come as soon as next spring.
