A North Idaho woman who told police in September that she was kidnapped while jogging is now being accused of making the whole thing up and facing her own criminal charges.
On Sept. 21, KREM-TV reported
that the 27-year-old woman told law enforcement she was forced to get into a vehicle by two males and was released nearly four hours later.
But this morning's Coeur d'Alene Press
reports that the Coeur d'Alene woman, whose name was not released by police, has been charged with filing a false police report.
"Detectives did a significant amount of follow-up investigation on this crime in the interest of public safety," said Sgt. Christie Wood in a prepared statement. "Detectives were able to determine the female's statements were false and the incident did not occur."
