A stretch of Interstate 84 will be that much more challenging this weekend, when crews from the Idaho Transportation Department close off the Meridian Road Interchange beginning this evening at 10 and running through 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20.
ITD crews will be working around the clock to remove old traffic signals and install new ones, and pave connections between current roadway ramps and a new interchange.
In particular, Meridian Road will be shut down between Overland Road and Waltman Drive. I-84 will remain open, but motorists won't be able to access the entrance or exit ramps at Meridian Road this weekend. Instead, drivers will be rerouted to the Ten Mile or Eagle Road interchanges.
ITD is installing a new interchange bridge that is four-feet higher than Meridian Road, but before traffic can roll across the new bridge, ITD will be raising the elevation of the Meridian Road ramps while still allowing for bridge clearance.
